In September 1940 a beautiful young woman arrived by seaplane and rubber dinghy on the shores of Scotland accompanied by two men – one of Germany’s many attempt to penetrate British defences and infiltrate spies into the UK. This seems to be one of the few established facts in the otherwise mysterious tale of Vera Eriksen. Even the origins of the woman described as ‘the most beautiful spy’ remain hazy, as does her ultimate fate. David Tremain delves into the archives, and in doing so begins to reveal glimpses of her fascinating life story: her career as a dancer in Paris; a tumultuous and violent dalliance with a White Russian officer of uncertain identity; her time in England with the Duchesse de Château-Thierry, an Abwehr agent; the suspicious and untimely death of her husband, and a rumoured pregnancy. The Beautiful Spy also grapples with perhaps the biggest mystery of all: what happened to Vera after she was released by the British?

Essay from the year 2019 in the subject Business economics - Corporate communication, grade: 80%, University of Salford (The Digital Marketing Institute Ireland), language: English, abstract: This document looks at the evolution of one-to-one, one-to-many and many-to-many communications and reveals the main differences between these communication approaches. A separate section will take a closer look at social media which have influenced how audiences want to be marketed to today. The world can be divided into physical and virtual parts. Prensky distinguishes between digital natives and digital immigrants. Because digital technologies evolve very fast, companies must adapt quickly in order to interact with customers in a sustainable way. Lastly, this paper displays the techniques that are required of today’s marketers. Before the Industrial Revolution enabled mass production, local store owners relied on one-to-one communication. While storekeepers knew their customers and their individual purchase histories, it was not possible to expand to a high level of personalisation. With the arrival of print and later broadcast advertising, marketing evolved to one-to-many communications. In 1994, the World Wide Web enabled an even broader reach than television, radio and newspapers. Hackley and Kitchen wrote in 1998 that "consumers are social". Early websites erased the boundaries of space and time, although they did not yet enable two-way communication. Marketers were still targeting their customers with mass media messages.

This book offers a clear process for managers, professionals, and future leaders to help discover their personal meaning in life and apply it to their work. The author uses research outcomes and theories to refute the contemporary philosophy that stresses following an individual’s passion alone when choosing a particular job or career. Instead, she recommends employing a personal meaning-oriented approach to life and work, and then becoming passionate about one’s work organically. The book also highlights the positive outcomes to organizations and societies when individuals engage with finding meaning in work, focusing on physical and emotional health and satisfaction. The author provides numerous examples of leaders who have aligned their personal meaning and organizational mission, also known as “meaning-mission fit,” and the relationship of this alignment to their emotional well-being. Together, the research, theory, and evidence in this book equip leaders and managers with an inspiring model to find their own meaning-mission fit, as well as create opportunities for the employees to do the same.
